What to do in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic tourism is well known. Of course, the biggest attraction for tourists is the Dominican Republic’s 1000 mi (1600km) of gorgeous beaches. The beaches in Punta Cana are especially beautiful, but you will find decent beaches in other resort areas as well. But here are some other interesting things to do in the Dominican Republic.
The opportunities for windsurfing and kite surfing are another great part of the Dominican Republic tourism. Best conditions for these activities are found in the north coast of the island, and it has been said that the breezes in Cabarete are especially favourable.
Warm waters, good visibility, sunken galleons, undersea gardens, offshore reefs and a rich marine life make the Dominican Republic the perfect place for scuba diving and snorkelling enthusiasts. Good dive sites at Sosúa, Cabrera Las Terrenas, the Samaná peninsula, Punta Rucia, La Caleta National Underwater Park, Catalina and Saona islands, and Barahona provide an opportunity for a truly memorable experience.
The Dominican Republic tourism is also well known for its number of fine golf courses, many of which are bordered by the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other.
For those who want to avoid the all-inclusive resorts and spice things up a little bit, the country has well-developed facilities for adventure sports, including white water rafting, canyoning, and cascading.
If you think Dominican Republic tourism, Santo Domingo has a rich nightlife and interesting historical sites.
For those who love horse riding, regular polo games are held at Sierra Prieta in Santo Domingo and at Casa de Campo near La Romana.
Much of the activity, however, is focused on the island’s many all-inclusive resorts, and most visitors spend their entire vacation in these resorts, leaving them only to go on guided tours and excursions in their hotel’s immediate vicinity.
