The light sand and the turquoise blue waters. That’s why people go to the Dominican Republic in first place. Being located in the Caribbean Sea, the Dominican Republic has more than 1000 mi (1600 km) of beaches studded with coconut palms and sands ranging from pearl white to golden brown to volcanic black. Playa Bahoruco is an isolated, beautiful stretch of beach with rugged cliffs dropping to golden sand and warm, blue water. Playa Sosua has calm waters and soft golden sand, and is renowned for its coral reefs and dive sites. One of the best and longest Caribbean beaches can be found in Punta Cana. It has with pearl-white sand shaded by swaying coconut palms, and is the busiest of the Dominican Republic’s tourist regions.
