Best Beaches of St. Martin

Perfect white sand beaches

Whether you want to dive in the Caribbean’s crystalline water or simply lay back and take a sunbath, you can’t go wrong with St. Martin. With 37 beautiful beaches, some bustling and some quiet and remote, some refined and some rocky, some great for snorkelling and some great sunning, you can find whatever you fancy here. And for those who want to bare it all, there is a clothing-optional beach at the south end of Baie Orientale.

Dawn Beach

True to its name, Dawn Beach offers breathtaking views of sunrise with St. Barths in the distance. Snorkeling among the coral reef is an experience not to be missed.

Little Bay Beach

Around the bend of Great Bay, to the west lies picture perfect Little Bay Beach. Because the sand is somewhat gravelly, Little Bay is not quite as crowded as many other beaches, but it does provide panoramic views of St. Eustatius, Philipsburg, the cruise-ship terminal, Saba, and St. Kitts. With calm waters and clear underwater visibility, the bay is the perfect spot for snorkelling, diving, kayaking, and boating.

Simpson Bay Beach

Simpson Bay Beach is a long, secluded stretch of white sand beach on the island’s Caribbean side. There is very little activity going on here, it’s just you, the sand, and the quiet waters of the Caribbean Sea. Enjoy the great views of sunset with the island of Saba in the distance.

Baie de Friars

Baie de Friars, North of the French capital Marigot, is a pretty white sand beach with simple good-food restaurants, calm waters, and a great view of the neighboring British island Anguilla.

Baie Orientale

Baie Orientale (Orient Beach) is the most developed, the most popular, and for many, the most beautiful beach on the island, with white powdered sand, underwater marine reserve, excellent water sports opportunities, beach bars, and hotels. Clothing is optional at the southern end of the beach, and while the northern end of the beach is supposedly more family-oriented, you may in fact encounter naked sunbathers anywhere.

Le Galion Beach

Nicknamed “Baby Beach”, Le Galion Beach is a quiet, child-friendly beach surrounded by a coral reef. The reef serves as a protection, providing calm and shallow waters, so it’s safe to let children play here. The trade winds at the far end of the beach make it a good spot for kite boarding and windsurfing.
