Mal Pais
Surfers will definitely want to take note here, because Mal Pais is one of the best places to catch a wave. If you’re not an avid surfer, you always have the opoprtunity to hike around in the area, visit Montezuma’s waterfalls, or book a boat tour to see the manta rays.
Playa Negra
Try this exotic beach out for a little something different. The black volcanic sand is a sight to behold, and gives the area a lot of personality.
Playa Grande
This beach resides in the Marine National Park for Leatherback Turtles, so if you’re lucky you’ll get to witness a mother turtle coming out of the sea to lay her eggs. If not, you’ll have to settle for the natural beauty and tranquility of the beach.

Another fabulous surfing spot, this beach is about a 20 minute drive from Manuel Antonio National Park (approximately 30 miles). There is a quaint little town nearby, with cute little shops and restaurants as well.

Eco-tourists will delight at the chance to visit this park. Tortugeuro hosts an impressive array of wildlife, including many animals on the endangered list. Lucky travellers will spot ocelots, tapirs, and many other exciting animals.
